Crazy Quilting At Always Quilting Gets Crazy!

Always Quilting hosts a Crazy Quilt Open Studio class on the third Wednesday of the month.  It is FREE, and you can bring any project you'd like to work on.  Robin is working on the sample for a class we are planning to schedule this fall.  We are going to be doing a Christmas Popper!

Start with a flat crazy quilt block, and do all of your embroidery and crazy quilt stitches.  Add lots of fun embellishments and maybe some beads to give it pizazz!  Robin's block below has some great ideas that can be inspiration for your block  She still has a lot to add to the block, but has a great start.  I love these rich colors!  They are great for the Christmas holiday season, or would be wonderful in a traditional, elegant room.  And it is a great project to make in any colors - what about blacks and golds with lots of sparkle for New Year's Eve?

Once you have finished your block, you will roll it over a paper tissue tube to get a nice, rounded look.  Eventually, the ends will be twisted around and finished off with some beautiful ribbon or the accompaniment of your choice.

Here is the side with the beautiful bells printed on Printed Treasures paper to include in your block.  The picture is trimmed in ric rac; doesn't it look great so far?

And here is the other side of the popper - this is what shoes as the tube is rolled.  You may want to play with your popper to get the sections you want to feature perfectly centered.  This side contains more elegant fabrics, and some beautiful beading and couching and some wonderful mesh netting with beads made out of thread.  Very fun and easy to do!

Although we don't have a date set yet for the Popper Class, you can click here if you'd like more information about our FREE Crazy Quilt Open Studio or if you'd like to register to join us next month!
